Our direct involvement in cutting-edge businesses gives Irbaris unique insights into the practical and commercial realities of disruptive technologies and business opportunities.

Our Ventures

Irbaris has been instrumental in the creation and development of independent companies that build on our knowledge and expertise.  Our support for early-stage ventures covers all stages of business development and planning, from developing business plans and financial modelling to preparing investor presentations and fundraising.  We have equity in these ventures and our support is long-standing.  Each venture is innovative, creative, and is designed to operate at scale.  Furthermore, each venture is commercially attractive, socially inclusive and environmentally sustainable.

IMPACTAGRI

ImpactAgri creates and improves large-scale agricultural value-chains, accelerates performance improvement efforts and delivers agribusiness infrastructure projects, primarily in Africa.  ImpactAgri’s comprehensive approach allows off-takers, retailers, input providers, equipment manufacturers, processors, governments and investors to participate in substantial agricultural projects in developing countries while securing better yields and returns, increasing social and environmental benefits and reducing risk. ImpactAgri has explored and supported business opportunities in some 20 countries in Africa and has an investment pipeline of over US$300m.

Our role:

ImpactAgri arose from work that Irbaris did over several years on food security together with a coalition of some 30 major agribusiness companies, during which it became clear that what was required was not an adviser to other companies on possible projects, but a principal actor able to move projects forward on its own account and at its own risk. Irbaris has continued to support the business with particular strategic and financial expertise (incl. through its role on the board), and flexible access to highly capable personnel.

TEVVA MOTORS

Tevva is a leading developer of advanced electric powertrain technologies for the medium-duty, urban distribution commercial vehicle sector. The company has developed a range of products, software and technologies that can be packaged in Tevva’s own eTruck or integrated into other OEM vehicles. Its core offering integrates range-extended electric powertrains for 7.5 tonne (rigid 2-axle) trucks. A fully integrated Tevva eTruck will out-compete diesel on a cost-of-ownership basis, provide a step change reduction in emissions and eliminate the operational concerns of electric powertrains for commercial activities.

Tevva already has trucks on the road and has an internationally recognised team with a proven track record of developing and bringing new products to market in the automotive and electric vehicle sectors.

Our role:

We developed the initial business plan and supported the first three rounds of fund raising as well as providing ad-hoc resources to support Tevva on the business planning, financial modelling and planning, market development and investor engagement.  David Hampton served as a Director of the company from its formation until the middle of 2019 and at various times acted as CFO and as interim Chairman. The business raised US$57m in 2021 by way of an oversubscribed private placement from new and existing investors to fit out its brand-new London based production facility and rapidly scale up manufacturing.
